President Prabowo Welcomes Former President Megawati at State Palace

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto received the fifth president of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, March 19, 2026. The meeting was held in a warm atmosphere ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.

Megawati arrived with her daughter, Puan Maharani, who serves as Speaker of the House of Representatives. President Prabowo and his son, Didit Hediprasetyo, welcomed them in the courtyard of the State Palace.

The President was accompanied by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad. Also present were State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

President Prabowo said the meeting was part of efforts to maintain ties among the nation’s leaders. The occasion coincided with the 29th day of Ramadan, the day before Eid al-Fitr.

“On this 29th day of Ramadan, ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, I received the fifth president of Indonesia, Mrs. Hj. Megawati Soekarnoputri, at Merdeka Palace. This meeting continues the relationship among the nation’s leaders,” President Prabowo said, as quoted on his official Instagram account @prabowo.

The meeting lasted about two hours in a cordial atmosphere. President Prabowo appeared to listen attentively to Megawati’s points during the discussion.

It was the fourth meeting between the two since President Prabowo took office in October 2024. They previously met in the Teuku Umar area of Central Jakarta in April 2025.

Earlier, on March 3, 2026, President Prabowo invited former presidents Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Joko Widodo, along with their vice presidents, to Merdeka Palace. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
