RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta: PT PLN (Persero) has urged customers to secure their home electricity before traveling for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The appeal highlights safety as Indonesians prepare for the annual homecoming period. PLN aims to prevent electrical risks while houses are left unattended.
Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and TJSL PLN Gregorius Adi Trianto reminded customers to inspect installations and appliances. He said homes left empty for days face higher electrical risks. Proper precautions can prevent short circuits and other disturbances.
Before delivering his statement, Gregorius emphasized that Eid homecoming is a cherished tradition in Indonesia. He encouraged customers to leave their homes in safe condition. He then conveyed the following message.
“Homecoming is a moment awaited by many families. Before departing, make sure the house left behind is in a safe condition, including electrical installations and electronic appliances. That way, customers can reunite with greater peace of mind without worry,” he said.
He added that these measures are important to avoid short circuits or other potential disruptions. Electrical installations may pose risks when houses remain empty. Preventive steps are therefore strongly encouraged.
To support safe travel, PLN shared the following recommendations:
- Ensure the home electrical installation is in good and safe condition before leaving.
- Unplug electronic devices from sockets to prevent unnecessary electricity flow and potential disturbances.
- Turn on only essential lighting, such as terrace or yard lamps, and use lighting sensors if possible for efficiency.
- For postpaid customers, make sure electricity bills are paid before the due date to avoid penalties or disconnection.
- For prepaid customers, ensure sufficient electricity tokens during the homecoming period so lights remain on and the kWh meter alarm does not sound.
- If electricity needs increase in hometowns, customers may apply for a power capacity upgrade as needed.
PLN also encourages customers to use the PLN Mobile application for electricity services. Through the app, users can purchase tokens, pay bills, request new connections, apply for power upgrades, and report outages easily.
