RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government stated that the supply of essential food commodities remains stable ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri. Authorities continue monitoring markets to ensure adequate availability of food for the public during the major religious holiday.

Indonesia’s Trade Minister, Budi Santoso, stated that the government is maintaining close supervision of supply chains across the country. The effort aims to ensure that food distribution runs smoothly and market conditions remain stable.

During a visit to Pasar Rawasari in Jakarta, Monday, March 16, 2026 , the minister observed trading activities and spoke with local vendors. He said the visit was part of routine inspections conducted by the government in traditional markets.

“Through regular inspections, we want to make sure the distribution of goods runs smoothly and market stability is maintained,” Santoso said. He added that such monitoring also helps ensure the availability of essential products for the public.

The minister noted that the government’s presence in markets also encourages traders to follow fair pricing practices. According to him, this approach helps maintain balanced market conditions ahead of the festive season.

Santoso also said the government supports the availability of a wider range of essential goods to provide more options for consumers. “We want the public to have broader access to affordable food products,” he said.

Demand for several commodities usually rises ahead of the Eid celebration, particularly for food items commonly consumed during the holiday. However, authorities believe the current market situation remains under control.

The government will continue monitoring developments through a national market surveillance system covering hundreds of markets across Indonesia. Officials say the system helps ensure stable supplies as the country prepares for one of its biggest annual celebrations.
