RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, presented the readiness of infrastructure and transportation services for the 2026 Eid transportation in a working meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 11, 2026. In general, he emphasized the full readiness of the government and all stakeholders in facing the surge of homebound travelers this year.

He also mentioned that, based on the survey results of potential movement during the Eid Transportation in 2026, the estimated movement of people reached 50.60% of Indonesia's population, equivalent to 143.91 million people. This figure is a 1.75% decrease compared to the survey results of the Eid Transportation in 2025, which was around 146 million people.

"However, in reality, the number of movements in 2025 actually reached 154 million people. This shows that public mobility during the Eid period tends to exceed the figures estimated in the survey," Dudy stated.

The government has prepared the readiness of infrastructure for all modes of transportation and traffic engineering policies to ensure smooth mobilization. This readiness is also supported by various incentives such as ticket fare discounts, free homecoming programs, and the regulation of freight transportation operations.

The Ministry of Transportation also conducts digital-based operations in monitoring Eid transportation, namely thru reporting transport nodes and networks, surveillance of vehicle movements, drone live streaming, accident monitoring, and public complaints.

"Monitoring also includes weather and early warnings from BMKG as well as the monitoring of 7,159 CCTV cameras in collaboration with local governments, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector,"he said.

The government is preparing a layered buffer zone scheme on toll roads and port areas to prevent vehicle congestion heading to Merak Port. This step includes utilizing several rest areas and strategic points on arterial roads to maintain smooth traffic flow during the transportation period.
