RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, has reiterated that subsidized fuel prices will not increase. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia made the statement when asked about the availability of subsidized fuel stocks ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday.

Minister Bahlil said the decision not to raise subsidized fuel prices had been discussed with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. He confirmed that the price of subsidized fuel would remain unchanged until Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.

“Yesterday, the government also held discussions with the Minister of Finance. I can assure you that, regarding fuel subsidies until Eid al-Fitr, Insha Allah (God willing), there will be no increase,” he said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

He added that the decision was made despite global crude oil prices continuing to rise due to tensions in the Middle East. According to him, the measure is part of the government’s effort to maintain economic stability during the Eid holiday. “So the state is here to ensure that even though there is an increase in world crude oil prices, subsidies will remain the same, there will be no price increases for subsidized oil,” he said.

Minister Bahlil also highlighted the geopolitical escalation in the Middle East that has affected global oil prices. He noted that fluctuations have been rapid. “We know that yesterday, fuel prices rose above USD 100 per barrel, and today they have fallen below USD 100 per barrel, to around USD 80–90. So, there have indeed been very rapid fluctuations,” he added. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
