RRI.CO.ID, Aceh Tamiang - Indonesia’s government has provided assistance to communities and cultural sites affected by recent flooding in Aceh province. The initiative aims to support post-disaster recovery while preserving important cultural heritage areas.

During a working visit to Aceh, Saturday, 7 March 2026, Indonesia’s Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, visited several locations in Aceh Tamiang Regency that were impacted by the disaster. The visit included the distribution of support to local residents and institutions affected by the floods.

Among the sites visited was Istana Banuaraja Site, where the minister met residents living around the heritage area. Assistance was also delivered to the Sekolah Inspirasi Bangsa to help maintain learning activities during the recovery period.

Fadli Zon also praised the resilience and optimism shown by local residents, including students and families. “Seeing the spirit of the community from parents to children we believe that we can rise again, remain optimistic, and recover quickly and strongly,” he said.

The minister also symbolically handed over several forms of assistance, including support for residents around the heritage site and temporary housing for displaced families. The aid is intended to help accelerate the recovery process in affected communities.

The visit was attended by several regional leaders, including Fadlullah and Armia Fahmi. Officials from cultural heritage agencies and regional cultural preservation offices also accompanied the minister during the visit.

He expressed confidence that the strong solidarity among Aceh Tamiang residents would help the region recover from the disaster. He emphasized that cooperation between the central government, local authorities, and communities would be crucial for rebuilding efforts.

The Ministry of Culture also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the restoration of cultural heritage sites affected by disasters. The ministry hopes that recovery efforts will protect cultural heritage while improving the well-being of communities that safeguard Indonesia’s cultural traditions.
