RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is strengthening its National Talent Management system to support the growth of the country’s cultural sector and expand its presence on the global stage. The initiative was discussed during a ministerial coordination meeting held at the office of National Development Planning Agency in Jakarta, Friday, 6 March 2026.

During the meeting, Indonesia’s Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, highlighted the progress of the cultural talent development program and its long-term vision. He said the National Talent Management system is designed to ensure sustainable development and mapping of talents across key sectors.

“Through the National Talent Management program, we aim to establish an inclusive, sustainable, and integrated talent management system connected to both national and global cultural ecosystems,” Fadli Zon said. He added that the initiative is also grounded in Indonesia’s legal framework supporting cultural advancement.

The strategy focuses on building a comprehensive talent database and developing structured talent development pathways. It also promotes capacity-building programs that respond to the evolving needs of the global cultural industry.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the program covers five main cultural sectors: visual arts, music, film, literature, and performing arts. In 2025 alone, nearly 37,000 cultural talents were recorded in the system, with more than 5,700 participating in advanced development programs.

Fadli Zon noted that Indonesia’s film industry has shown strong growth in recent years, with domestic films capturing around 67 percent of the national market. Indonesian films are also increasingly participating in major international festivals such as the Berlin International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival.

He added that thousands of talents are also involved in literary, music, and visual arts programs, many of which have received international recognition. The minister said Indonesia will also participate again in the Venice Biennale, one of the world’s most prestigious contemporary art exhibitions.

“These achievements show that Indonesia’s cultural talents are becoming increasingly visible and active within the global cultural ecosystem,” Fadli Zon said. The government hopes the strengthened talent management system will help develop world-class cultural professionals and enhance Indonesia’s global cultural presence.
