RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, encourages the acceleration of the transformation of the national aviation sector to address the various challenges faced by the industry today. This transformation step needs to be carried out thru a strategic approach involving regulators, operators, and all aviation stakeholders.
"We all understand that the aviation sector is currently facing various challenges that are receiving widespread attention from the public. In this era of information openness, any disruption in flight services can quickly become a public concern and affect public trust in the aviation industry," Minister Dudy at the Aviation Sharing Session organized by the Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation Headquarters, Jakarta, Thursday 5 March 2026.
Some issues that often attract public attention in the aviation sector currently include flight delays, airport facilities that are not yet fully optimal, and passenger travel experiences that are not yet fully satisfactory. On the other hand, the aviation industry also faces external dynamics that
not easy, such as fluctuations in avtur fuel prices, the need for investment in technology and infrastructure, and the demands for increasingly higher aviation safety standards.
For that reason, in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the national aviation industry amidst global dynamics, the acceleration of aviation transformation is very necessary. This transformation is aimed at improving flight safety, operational efficiency, and the quality of services to the public.
The Minister of Transportation encourages aviation industry players to take a number of strategic steps to drive change in this sector. Among other things, thru the strengthening of digitalization in aviation services or Smart Aviation. In addition, the government also encourages the development of the Airportpreneurship concept so that airports do not only function as transportation hubs but also as centers of economic growth.
Modernization of the flight navigation system and improvement of infrastructure quality also need to be carried out in the transformation. This step is expected to enhance service capacity while simultaneously strengthening flight safety and punctuality.
In driving the transformation of the aviation sector, the government emphasizes four important factors that must be the focus of all stakeholders. The four are safety and security aspects, synergy and collaboration, attention to operational details, and preparedness to face various uncertainties.
"Flight safety must always be the top priority in every policy-making and operational decision. At the same time, collaboration among stakeholders also needs to be continuously strengthened so that the transformation of this sector can proceed optimally," Minister of Transportation Dudy conveyed.
According to the Minister of Transportation, the transformation of the aviation sector cannot be done partially, but requires close cooperation between regulators, operators, and all stakeholders. An integrated approach is deemed important to maintain the sustainability of the industry while also improving the quality of services for the public.
"We must always be ready to face uncertainties that can arise at any time in the aviation industry. Therefore, strong coordination, consistent oversight, and operational readiness are key to maintaining the reliability of national flight services," said Minister of Transportation Dudy.
