RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto hosted a fast-breaking gathering at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, March 5, 2026, attended by 170 clerics and habaib (Islamic scholars who are descendants of the Prophet Muhammad).
The event continued with a dialogue session from 8 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. Jakarta time, where clerics, Islamic organizations, and Islamic boarding school administrators engaged directly with the president.
During the dialogue, clerics received a detailed explanation of current global issues, including the potential impact of a war involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. President Subianto also conveyed his commitment to safeguarding the unity of the Republic of Indonesia.
Islamic cleric Yahya Zainul Ma’arif, widely known as Buya Yahya, expressed his appreciation for the president’s engagement with religious leaders. Buya Yahya is a prominent preacher and leader of the Al-Bahjah Islamic boarding school in Cirebon, West Java, known for his emphasis on moderation, community guidance, and accessible religious teaching.
“Alhamdulillah, we heard our president’s great aspirations to safeguard this country. While other nations are embroiled in war and turmoil, his passion for protecting Indonesia remains,” Buya Yahya said at the palace.
He invited the public to pray for the president’s strength in leading the nation and ensuring the smooth implementation of pro-people programs. He added that if shortcomings arise in leadership, the people can provide input through dialogue forums.
“Our duty is to pray, but we often forget this. We often talk and shout, but we forget to ask God. May God give strength to all the good programs he has planned. We ask God to make it easy,” he said.
Buya Yahya also urged Indonesians to remain calm and avoid chaos, stressing that Indonesia is a large nation facing many challenges. He emphasized that problems should be resolved amicably, without cursing, mocking, or insulting one another.
“He has spoken at length about the challenges facing this country and how it can be protected through togetherness and unity. If problems arise, they should be resolved gracefully, not with cursing, mocking, or negative assumptions,” he said. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
