RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia's Transportation Minister, Dudy Purwagandhi, called for stronger health facilities at major transportation hubs during Eid Transport 2026. The request was conveyed during a coordination meeting with Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, in Jakarta, Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
He also emphasized the importance of additional medical support at the busiest public transportation nodes nationwide. “To maintain service continuity, we expect support from the Ministry of Health to add health facilities,” he said.
As quoted by the Transportation Ministry's website, Health support measures will include medical examinations for drivers before operating public transportation services. These tests include blood pressure checks and urine testing to ensure drivers remain free from harmful substances.
Medical posts will also be provided at terminals, train stations, ports, airports, toll rest areas, and arterial roads. These facilities will serve as rest areas and emergency health checkpoints for travelers experiencing health issues during journeys.
Minister Dudy also supported deployment of emergency response teams along major homecoming travel routes. Motorcycle ambulances may be prepared to reach accident locations or medical emergencies in areas difficult for cars.
The minister then additionally stressed the importance of hygienic lactation rooms at strategic transportation locations lacking permanent facilities. These spaces aim to support mothers and infants facing long waiting periods during crowded homecoming travel.
"The Transportation Ministry affirms the commitment to strengthen coordination and anticipatory measures with Health Ministry, in hope all homecoming people can travel in healthy, safe, and comfortable situation," Minister Dudy stated.
Based on the 2026 Eid Transport Mobility Survey, several transportation hubs are expected to experience the highest departure traffic. These include Pasar Senen Station, Soekarno Hatta Airport, Pulo Gebang Terminal, Tanjung Priok Port, and Merak Ferry Port.
