RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, gathered national figures to discuss the global situation, as well as Indonesia's response and readiness. Former living presidents, including his predecessor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, attended the evening gathering.
A number of national figures met in a meeting and discussion at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. The four-hour meeting discussed global geopolitical developments, particularly the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, said that Prabowo invited all former living presidents, former vice presidents, and former foreign ministers, as well as the leaders of all political parties in Indonesia. This includes former presidents Megawati Sukarnoputri, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and Jokowi.
"Thank God, most of them were able to attend. Tonight’s meeting is meant for discussion, maintaining ties, and exchanging views," he said.
After the meeting, Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, expressed the political parties' stance. Bahlil said his party understands the preparatory measures taken by the President to anticipate any possibilities amid global dynamics.
"In principle, we from the political parties fully understand the position taken by the President as well as the preparations and steps to anticipate this situation. All of this is done to anticipate global developments and safeguard our country," he said.

The Golkar Party, a conservative party, is the second-largest party in Indonesia's House of Representatives. Long became the majority party during President Suharto's New Order era; now the party secured 15.7% vote in the 2024 election.
Meanwhile, the President of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Al Muzzammil Yusuf, said that President Prabowo stressed Indonesia’s readiness in food and energy, as well as the need to unify perspectives to maintain national stability. He emphasized Prabowo's argument in the meeting that Indonesia's joining the Board of Peace (BoP) is the most feasible option among the available choices.
“In my view, he explained that (the choice) is indeed the most difficult among the available options, (but also) the most feasible one, rather than the ideal choices,” Al Muzzammil said.
PKS is an Islamist party established during the early times of Indonesia's Reform era in the late 1990s. It secured 8.4% vote in the 2024 election, making it among the eight parties in the current national legislature.
The meeting was held amid the Middle Eastern crisis triggered by joint U.S-Israel missile attacks on Iran, and Iran's retaliatory attacks on U.S. military bases in the Middle East. The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, was assassinated in an attack on his residential compound, leading to Iran's vow to counter the attack.
