RRI.CO.ID, Bireuen: Indonesia’s Government distributed second-phase housing assistance to disaster-affected residents in Bireuen, Aceh, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The aid was handed over directly by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno. The program accelerates post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Total assistance for Bireuen in the second phase reached Rp86.1 billion. The funds cover thousands of lightly and moderately damaged houses. Bireuen received the largest allocation among three affected provinces.

A total of 4,347 housing units received support under the program. This includes 2,954 lightly damaged houses worth around Rp44.31 billion. Another 1,393 moderately damaged houses received Rp41.79 billion.

“Today is our second phase in distributing stimulant assistance for moderately and lightly damaged houses. Bireuen Regency received the largest assistance in this second rehabilitation phase across the three provinces,” he said.

Pratikno emphasized that accelerating recovery is a direct instruction from President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. The government remains committed despite recurring disasters in several regions. Ministries and agencies are working in coordination to speed up recovery.

“The President always instructs ministries and agencies to restore Aceh Province, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra as quickly as possible. We apologize if you expect faster progress than we can deliver, but we will continue striving for the fastest possible recovery. Including the reconstruction of heavily damaged houses,” he stressed.

The minister also stated that special attention is being prepared ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. The government wants affected residents to worship and celebrate more comfortably. Support measures will continue during the festive period.

On planning, the government has finalized version one of the master plan. Feedback is being collected until the end of March before finalization. The master plan will serve as the basis for budgeting by the Ministry of Finance.

“Determining this master plan is important because it becomes the basis for budgeting by the Ministry of Finance. Therefore, regional heads are asked to ensure proposals are submitted according to procedures to Bappenas this March,” he said.

The government affirmed that rehabilitation and reconstruction will be closely monitored. Recovery efforts aim to build safer and more resilient housing. The session was attended by National Disaster Mitigation Agency Head Suharyanto and regional leaders.
