RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is preparing a 30 percent toll rate discount to ease the burden on the public during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr exodus and return trips. The policy is intended to help travelers save on costs and reduce traffic congestion during peak travel periods.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo announced that the toll discounts will apply for four days: March 15–16, 2026, during the exodus, and March 26–27, 2026, during the return flow.

“In general, the toll discount will be implemented for four days during the exodus from March 15 to 16, 2026, and during the return journey from March 26 to 27, 2026,” Dody said in Jakarta on Monday, March 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The discount applies to all vehicle classes traveling long distances, from the originating to the destination toll gate. Payment must be made using electronic money with a sufficient balance.

Exceptions apply to several toll roads. The Tangerang–Merak Toll Road will implement discounts on March 12–13 and March 31–April 1, 2026. The Kayuagung–Palembang Toll Road will add March 14, 28, and 29, 2026. The Cimanggis–Cibitung Toll Road will apply discounts on March 21–22, 2026.

Additional discounts are also in place. The Becakayu Toll Road offers dynamic pricing of 10–20 percent until March 31, 2026, while the Cibitung–Cilincing Toll Road provides a 12–44 percent discount for Class II–V vehicles until April 30, 2026.

Minister Dody explained that the toll rate discounts aim to prevent excessive congestion on peak travel days. “With the discounts, it is hoped that travelers will depart earlier than the estimated peak travel time, and that more four-wheeled vehicles will use toll roads to reduce the burden on national roads,” he said.

A total of 29 toll road sections will implement discounts during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 period. These include four toll roads in the Greater Jakarta corridor, 10 in the Trans-Java corridor, four in the Non-Trans-Java corridor, and 11 in the Trans-Sumatra corridor.

The toll roads are: Tangerang–Merak, Jakarta–Cikampek, Japek Elevated (MBZ), Cikampek–Palimanan, Palimanan–Kanci, Kanci–Pejagan, Pejagan–Pemalang, Pemalang–Batang, Batang–Semarang, Semarang ABC, Bakauheni–Terbanggi Besar, Terbanggi Besar–Pematang Panggang–Kayuagung, Kayuagung–Palembang, Indralaya–Prabumulih, Pekanbaru–Dumai, Pekanbaru–Bangkinang–Koto Kampar, Belawan–Medan–Tanjung Morawa, Medan–Kualanamu–Tebing Tinggi, Indrapura–Kisaran, Kuala Tanjung–Tebing Tinggi–Parapat, Sigli–Banda Aceh Sections 2–6, Cikampek–Purwakarta–Padalarang (Cipularang), Padalarang–Cileunyi (Padaleunyi), Cileunyi–Sumedang–Dawuan (Cisumdawu), Krian–Legundi–Bunder, Cimanggis–Cibitung, Kelapa Gading–Pulo Gebang, Becakayu, and Cibitung–Cilincing.

The government has urged the public to ensure sufficient balance on their electronic cards before entering toll roads. If the balance is insufficient or the system cannot recognize the origin or vehicle class, the discount will not be granted.

This policy is part of the government’s effort to ensure smoother, safer, and more affordable travel during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period, when public mobility is at its peak. ***
