RRI.CO.ID, Nagan Raya - The emergency response phase following the flash floods in Aceh has ended, shifting the focus to rehabilitation and reconstruction.

Lawmaker Teuku Zulkarnaini of Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR), who represents Aceh, said the next stage requires serious intervention from the central government.

“The emergency response in Aceh is now over. What is needed is the restoration of infrastructure and community settlements,” Zulkarnaini told reporters in Nagan Raya on Monday, February 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He noted that relying solely on regional budgets is not feasible due to limited resources. “Regional finances are very limited; they cannot cover disaster-related infrastructure repairs,” he said.

Although funding for infrastructure and housing development comes from the central government, Zulkarnaini emphasized that planning must be based on assessments from local administrations. “Regional administrations know more about the details of the disaster damage, so we hope the government will immediately rebuild the infrastructure damaged in Aceh, including in Nagan Raya Regency, which suffered severe damage,” he said.

According to data from the Nagan Raya Regency Administration, total flood-related losses exceeded IDR 1.1 trillion. Infrastructure was the hardest hit, with damage totaling about IDR 572.7 billion.

Housing losses reached more than IDR 131 billion, while economic impacts were estimated at IDR 278.8 billion. Losses in the social sector were recorded at around IDR 75.9 billion, and cross-sector damages at IDR 39.6 billion.

The disaster directly affected 25,608 people, or 8,325 families. Three people were reported missing, and one person died. Public facilities also sustained damage, including 29 offices, three places of worship, 12 Islamic boarding schools, 46 schools, and four healthcare facilities. Vital infrastructure, such as seven roads and three bridges, was damaged.

In the housing sector, 1,807 units were affected: 487 were severely damaged, 283 moderately damaged, and 1,043 lightly damaged.

Zulkarnaini hopes that rehabilitation and reconstruction can be accelerated so that economic and social activities in Nagan Raya can gradually recover. ***
