RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government is accelerating efforts to support learning recoveryin disaster-affected areas in Sumatra. As of February 27, 2026, 1,741 schools had signed cooperation agreements (PKS) for the revitalization of education units, totaling IDR 1.254 trillion (approx. USD 74.5 million) in allocation. Of that amount, IDR 411.4 billion has been disbursed.

The data, compiled by the National Secretariat for Disaster-Safe Education Units (Seknas SPAB) from the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen), shows steady progress in post-disaster education recovery.

The ministry's Director General of Early Childhood, Gogot Suharwoto, said accelerating learning recovery remains a top priority to ensure students’ right to education is fulfilled during emergencies.

“Every child has the right to return to learning in safe and comfortable conditions. Therefore, accelerating budget disbursement and improving the aid distribution mechanism are concrete steps to ensure disaster-affected learning spaces can be quickly restored and learning can resume,” Gogot said.

The disbursement process was briefly delayed this week due to an addendum to the cooperation agreements to accommodate additional furniture components in the revitalization program.

The government plans to add 248 more schools to the PKS list next week. Disbursements will continue for schools that have completed the required administrative procedures.

In addition, the ministry, through the Education Financing Service Center (Puslapdik), has unblocked IDR 21.6 billion in government assistance funds. The process is expected to conclude next week, so the funds can be immediately distributed to meet learning needs during the transition from emergency response to recovery.

The government has also distributed IDR 220 billion in assistance to around 36,000 teachers. Authorities are still verifying approximately 23,000 other teachers for further aid distribution. ***
