RRI.CO.ID, Lampung – Indonesia’s Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, conducted a working visit to Infantry Battalion 892/Vikasa Sena (Territorial Development). The battalion is part of the 88/Ksatria Bukit Kaba Territorial Development Infantry Brigade under the Military Regional Command XXI/Radin Inten, located in Way Kanan Regency, Lampung, on Thursday, 26 February 2026.

During the visit, the Minister received a briefing from the Commander of Infantry Battalion TP 892/Vikasa Sena, Major Ranji, regarding the impact of the unit’s presence on the local community. The battalion’s presence has made a tangible contribution to social stability.

These contributions include an increased sense of security following a decline in robbery and drug trafficking incidents, support for healthcare services through the involvement of medical personnel at the Way Tuba Community Health Center, and the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) around the unit, which has helped stimulate the local economy.

In an official statement received by RRI VOI on Friday, 27 February 2026, in response to the briefing, Minister Sjafrie emphasized that combat readiness must remain the battalion’s top priority. This can be achieved through routine live-fire training to maintain and sharpen soldiers’ skills, both to support operational assignments and military competitions.

The Minister also encouraged the construction of a shooting range as a means of enhancing professionalism, stressing that the process must be carefully planned, taking into account land availability and avoiding potential conflicts with surrounding communities and institutions.

In addition, Minister Sjafrie reviewed the first phase of the unit’s facility development, which has reached 100 percent completion, and underscored the importance of continuous evaluation to ensure construction quality is maintained. He also highlighted the need for coordination among battalions within the Territorial Development Infantry Brigade to strengthen mutual support capabilities in every assignment. Furthermore, he specifically stressed that soldiers’ integrity is the primary foundation of unit professionalism.

As part of a community impact approach, Minister Sjafrie directed the battalion to prepare monitoring charts to assess the influence of its presence within the community, covering aspects of security, health, and the economy.

This step is expected to provide a basis for evaluation while strengthening the unit’s role in building regional resilience, ensuring that the Indonesian Military (TNI) function not only as a defense force, but also as a solution in maintaining security, improving welfare, and strengthening relations with the community.
