Minister Sjafrie Monitors the Readiness of Infantry Battalion 848 SPC in Lampung

RRI.CO.ID, Lampung — Indonesia's Defense Minister, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, directly inspected the readiness of personnel of Territorial Development Infantry Battalion 848/Satya Pandya Cakti (SPC) located in Anak Tuha, Central Lampung, Thursday, February 26, 2026.
His visit to the battalion, which is part of the TP 88/KBK Infantry Brigade of Military Regional Command XXI/Radin Inten was a special attention for the operational readiness and professionalism of the personnel in the region.
In an official statement received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Thursday night, 26 February 2026, during the visit, Minister Sjafrie witnessed the demonstration of the personnel capabilities of Infantry Battalion TP 848/Satya Pandya Cakti. Some activities were showcased ranging from calisthenics training to military martial arts skills such as karate, taekwondo, muay thai, military pencak silat, and boxing.
The demonstration reflected the professionalism, discipline, and physical readiness of the soldiers in facing various spectrums of threats.
Commander of Infantry Battalion TP 848, Lieutenant Colonel Dewa explained the unit's development in supporting regional security through a number of productive programs. These programs include corn and sugar cane cultivation, goat farming for social and religious needs, and egg-laying chicken farming.
The initiatives demonstrate the role of the unit as a defensive force. It also plays a strategic role as part of the social and economic ecosystem of the community in the assignment area.
Responding to the presentation, the Minister of Defense affirmed the importance of the TNI's presence in maintaining social stability and community security. Sjafrie also encouraged the implementation of armed motorized patrols with a buddy system as a preventive measure to anticipate potential disturbances to public order, such as robbery and drug trafficking.
Moreover, the Minister of Defense underscored that the existence of the batallion must be able to build public trust as an integral part of the Universal People's Defense and Security System.
“The existense of the batallion must be useful the people as a protector and guardian. Thus, a sense of belonging to the TNI will grow among the community,” the Minister stated.
In the context of unit development, the Minister of Defense also highlighted the importance of developing combat unit guidance patterns based on regional typology and the ability to serve the community.
" The personnel must have the necessary skills, but more than that, they must have the ability to be present and serve the people," the Minister conveyed. (AF)
