RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR) has officially authorized the Indonesian Navy to accept a patrol boat grant from the Japanese government valued at 1.9 billion yen. This strategic decision was finalized during a plenary session held on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

The approval followed intensive discussions by Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding the procurement of Defense and Security Equipment (Alpalhankam). Following a working meeting on 10 February 2026, with the Minister of Defense, the Commander of the Indonesian Military, and the Minister of Finance, Commission I moved to approve the grant.

Vice Chairperson of Commission I, Dave Akbarshah Fikarno, stated that the acquisition of the 18-meter patrol boat is being facilitated through the Official Security Assistance (OSA) scheme.

“Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives has approved the acceptance of an 18-meter-class patrol boat grant, worth 1.9 billion yen, from the Japanese government to the Indonesian Navy via the Official Security Assistance scheme,” Dave stated.

This approval was granted in accordance with Law No. 17 of 2003 on State Finances, which mandates parliamentary consent for the government to accept foreign grants. Consequently, the plenary session formally ratified the acceptance of the vessel.

Meanwhile, Speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, presided over the session, called for a vote from all members present. A resounding "yes" echoed through the chamber, signaling official legislative support for strengthening the Indonesian Navy's patrol fleet.

The session’s final agenda item was the closing speech for the third legislative term of 2025–2026. The Speaker delivered the address from the podium, expressing gratitude for the successful fulfillment of the council's constitutional duties.
