RRI.CO.ID, Semarang - The Consul General of China in Surabaya, Ye Su, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of Indonesians in celebrating the Lunar New Year. He described the vibrant celebrations across various regions as a strong symbol of cultural acceptance and togetherness.

Speaking in Semarang Sunday, 15 February 2026, Ye Su said he has only been in his post for three months but has already felt the public’s excitement toward the festivities. He expressed hope that the spirit would further strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and China.

“I have only been here for three months, but I have already felt that the Indonesian people truly enjoy celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year,” YeSsu said. He added that he was very pleased to learn that the Indonesian government allows the Lunar New Year to be celebrated at the national level.

Besides, Ye Su stated Lunar New Year celebrations in various parts of Indonesia have been lively and festive. He noted that the government’s policy reflects an open and inclusive attitude toward cultural diversity.

Meanwhile, Mulyadi Setiakusuma, Official of the Klenteng Sam Poo Kong Foundation, stated that each year the Lunar New Year celebration at the temple is open to the public. He said the event serves as a bridge for togetherness across different segments of society.

“We would like to express our gratitude, as this is a form of cooperation. Sharing with one another is something good,” Mulyadi said. He emphasized that what matters most is not the amount or value, but the goodwill behind the cooperation for the people of Indonesia.

Mulyadi added that the Lunar New Year has now become a national and shared celebration, not one that belongs to a single group. He hopes the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect will continue to grow in future celebrations.

This year’s Lunar New Year celebrations across Indonesia involved people from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. The occasion is seen as not only strengthening social harmony, but also reinforcing relations between nations.
