President Prabowo Embarks on State Visit to the United States

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto departed for Washington, D.C., for a state working visit to the United States. The plane carrying the head of state took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Monday, February 16, 2026.

During the visit, President Subianto is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump. The two leaders will discuss ways to strengthen Indonesia-US relations and strategic cooperation in various fields during the bilateral meeting.

The President will be accompanied on this visit by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya. This visit is part of Indonesia's active diplomacy amidst global geopolitical dynamics.

The day before his departure, on Sunday, February 15, 2026, President Prabowo held a closed meeting with several ministers in Hambalang, Bogor. The meeting addressed Indonesia's stance on economic negotiations, including the planned signing of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART).

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka saw President Prabowo off at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base. Also present were the Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Agus Subiyanto.

According to Teddy, the president's visit aimed to solidify Indonesia's position in all economic negotiations. "Especially in the near future, negotiations with the US will be the most beneficial for Indonesia," he said.

Teddy said that President Prabowo emphasized Indonesia's position in economic negotiations. According to Teddy, the Head of State wants the negotiations to provide Indonesia with a favorable position, including with the United States.

"President Prabowo wants every policy to be as immediate and beneficial as possible for Indonesia," he said.

He added that the President wants the negotiations to maximize domestic industrial productivity. President Prabowo plans to sign the ART agreement with President Donald Trump on February 19, 2026. Previously, Indonesia successfully negotiated a reduction in import tariffs from 32 percent to 19 percent with the US.

"The percentage has been reduced from 32 to 19 percent, but it hasn't been signed yet," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

He added that the details will be revealed after the agreement is signed. ***
