Government-YouTube Synergy Protects Children in the Digital Space

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs officially launched the Digital Action Program in collaboration with YouTube to strengthen child protection in cyberspace. The initiative titled "Children & Families Ready for Digital" is designed to build the character of the younger generation to be resilient in facing technological disruptions in the era of artificial intelligence.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, underscored that the protection of children in the digital world is a direct mandate from President Prabowo Subianto to create superior human resources. He also said that the future Indonesian human resources must have perfect health, covering physical, mental, and moral and spiritual aspects.

"Our mandate, President Prabowo has an extraordinary concern for superior and resilient human resources, that all Indonesian children, all Indonesians must be healthy. Healthy physically, healthy mentally, healthy morally, healthy socially, healthy spiritually," Pratikno conveyed in Jakarta, Tuesday, 10 February 2026.

On the same occasion, Head of Government Relations and Public Policy for YouTube Southeast Asia, Danny Ardianto, expressed his commitment to educating the public about the responsible use of technology. YouTube strives to foster Indonesia's digital ecosystem to become a safe space for children's growth and development, as well as to support the character building of the younger generation.

"Today we are strengthening that responsibility to build Indonesia's digital ecosystem that encourages a space for children's growth and the character development of the younger generation," Danny said.

She also explained that the main focus of Google and YouTube is to provide maximum protection for children while they are in their digital ecosystem. Instead of restricting access, the approach taken is to ensure that children can still reap the positive benefits of technology with proper and safe supervision.

As a concrete implementation of this cooperation, the government launched three flagship programs that directly target the smallest unit in society, namely the family. These programs include the Digital Action Program in collaboration with YouTube, the One Hour of Quality Time with Family Campaign, and the Wise and Smart MOOC educational platform for parents and children.

Through this cross-sector synergy, the government hopes to mitigate the mental health risks caused by unhealthy internet use from an early age. This strategic step becomes an important milestone in the collective effort to protect the future of the Indonesian nation amidst the unstoppable wave of global digital transformation.
