RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia secured a dominant  3–0 victory over Togo in the 2026 Davis Cup World Group II Play-off held at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Tennis Stadium in Jakarta, Saturday and Sunday, 7–8 February 2026. The win earned Indonesia a place in the first round of the World Group II Finals scheduled for September 2026.

Indonesia took an early lead on the opening day, 7 February 2026, through the men’s singles matches. Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi overpowered Togo’s young player Noah Koffi by 6–1, 6–1 to give the hosts a 1–0 advantage.

The momentum continued in the second singles match as Justin Barki extended Indonesia’s leading position. He defeated Kwami Stanislas Dussey in straight sets, 6–0, 6–3, extending Indonesia’s lead to 2–0 by the end of the first day.

Indonesia sealed the tie on the second day, 8 February 2026, through the men’s doubles event. The pair of Christopher Rungkat and Justin Barki dominated Togo’s Kwami Stanislas Dussey and Kadanga Kili with a 6–0, 7–5 win.

The doubles win confirmed Indonesia’s 3–0 lead, which was enough to secure the play-off under Davis Cup regulations. According to the rules, a team that records three wins automatically clinches victory, although remaining matches may still be played.

Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir welcomed the result and expressed optimism about the future of Indonesian tennis. “We have just won 3–0 against Togo, which means we have qualified for World Group II, and hopefully this can mark the revival of Indonesian tennis,” Erick Thohir said after the match.

He added that consistency would be key to sustaining success going forward. “The President has included tennis among the 21 priority sports, and we hope this achievement can contribute to building consistent performance and long-term success,” he said.

Indonesia’s Davis Cup squad consists of players who also helped the national team win the men’s team gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. The victory over Togo also served as redemption after Indonesia’s 2–3 away defeat in 2024, before the team bounced back in 2025 to earn promotion back to World Group II.
