RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto summoned several former ministers and deputy ministers of foreign affairs to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

According to RRI’s observations, former foreign minister for the 1999–2001 period, Alwi Shihab; foreign minister for the 2009–2014 period, Marty Natalegawa; and Retno Marsudi, foreign minister from 2014 to 2024attended the meeting.

Alwi Shihab said that President Prabowo invited about 20 former foreign ministers and deputy ministers to seek their views. “There were about 20 people invited,” Alwi said upon his arrival at the Presidential Palace Complex. He described the dialogue forum with the President as an important opportunity to discuss strategic issues. “I think this is very positive, because this is the first time there has been a forum like this,” he said, as reported by RRI.

Alwi added that the President had opened broad dialogue with his predecessors on diplomatic matters and acknowledged that many issues were discussed during the meeting. He said he had many points to convey to the President. “I have plenty to share,” he said briefly.

Marty Natalegawa, who served as foreign minister from 2009 to 2014, said he attended the meeting only to fulfill the President’s invitation. “I don’t know the topics of discussion either, just like you all,” Marty said briefly.

He declined to comment on Indonesia’s membership in the Board of Peace (BoP), noting that he wanted to hear more views and explanations directly from the President. “I have my own opinion, but I want to hear more views and explanations later,” he said.

In addition to Alwi and Marty, Retno Marsudi, who served as foreign minister from 2014 to 2024, was also present. She said her attendance was solely to fulfill President Prabowo’s invitation. ***
