RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The empowerment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and retail in Indonesia requires digital technology support. It serves as a structured approach to expand marketing.

Approximately, MSMEs account for nearly 99 percent. It involves millions of commodities and village businesses that still face limitations.

To overcome the problem faced by MSMEs, CEO of SCash, a Singapore-based technology company developing the New Retail and SuperApp ecosystem, Michael Lee Eng Yew, provides tailored tech solutions. He explained that the limitations faced by MSMEs include digital infrastructure, governance systems, and structured markets that require the support of a technology framework.

"SCash positions itself as a long-term platform partner by providing technological solutions. It aims at reviving and bolstering commodity businesses so that they can operate more continuously, efficiently, and transparently," Michael stated in Jakarta, Tuesday, 3 February 2026.

Moreover, Michael stated that in addition to supporting the empowerment of MSMEs and retailers, his company has also established a collaborative partnership with PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (KBI). He said the partnership is intended to support the revitalization of commodity-based businesses, especially those managed by cooperatives and village entrepreneurs.

“The partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering the national commodity ecosystem by combining SCash's technological capabilities and ecosystem development. KBI, as a state-owned enterprise responsible for clearing, guaranteeing, settling transactions, and trade governance,” he said.

Through the collaboration, SCash and KBI seek to support small and medium enterprises, cooperatives, and village-based entrepreneurs. While, MSMEs can participate in structured commodity markets, particularly in the agricultural and community-based economy sectors.

“This collaboration is also in line with national efforts to boost the village economy and commodity management. This partnership involves some stakeholders, including representatives of village businesses such as the Indonesian Village Business Association (APUDSI),” he said.

Meanwhile, an entrepreneur of MSME, Cahyo, welcomes the support for MSME empowerment through digital infrastructure and its ecosystem. He also said, MSMEs need attention with empowerment support such as New Retail network development technology and the SCash SuperApp.

“If you want to help good MSMEs, it must be appreciated, because we need attention so that our businesses can progress further. Especially now that everything is app-based, conventional businesses are developing slowly. But now everyone uses technology, from MSMEs to retailers,” Cahyo conveyed.

To support MSMEs and retailers, the role of SCash in Indonesia goes beyond developing digital systems and transactions. SCash also actively supports social and economic programs through partnerships with leading local organizations to strengthen MSMEs.

SCash's commitment as a technology company is focused on developing the New Retail and SuperApp ecosystems through its platform and partnerships. Besides, SCash supports the creation of an integrated digital ecosystem that enables businesses, cooperatives, and communities to operate more efficiently and sustainably.
