KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda Returns After UN Mission

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Navy warship KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM-367) returned to Indonesia, Sunday, 1 February 2026, after completing a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. The vessel was deployed under the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) as part of the Maritime Task Force of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).

KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda brought home 120 Indonesian Navy personnel who had served as part of the UN peacekeeping force. Their deployment marked Indonesia’s continued contribution to maintaining maritime security and regional stability in the Lebanon conflict area.

The warship’s arrival was officially welcomed by the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral Dr. Muhammad Ali, at the Military Seaborne Command dock in North Jakarta. Senior naval officers and officials also attended to receive the returning peacekeepers.

During the welcoming ceremony, Admiral Muhammad Ali expressed pride in the successful completion of the mission. “The success of this mission reflects Indonesia’s strong commitment to building a professional defense force and strengthening its role in maintaining global security stability,” he said.

Throughout the UN peacekeeping mission, which began on 17January 2025, KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda carried out a total of 33 operational tasks in its designated area of operations. These activities focused on supporting maritime security and enforcing the UN mandate in Lebanese waters.

In addition to operational duties, the warship participated in 150 joint exercises with foreign navies involved in the UNIFIL Maritime Task Force. The exercises were aimed at enhancing interoperability, operational readiness, and coordination among multinational naval forces.

The Indonesian Navy personnel also received various international awards in recognition of their performance and professionalism during the mission. The commendations highlighted the effectiveness of Indonesia’s contribution to the UN peacekeeping operation.

Following its arrival in Jakarta, KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda is scheduled to continue its voyage to Surabaya, East Java, marking the conclusion of its deployment in the United Nations peacekeeping mission.
