RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the members of the National Energy Council (DEN) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The President appointed members of the National Energy Council from government and stakeholders.
President Prabowo led the oath of office, which was followed by the members being sworn in. "By God, I swear, by God, I promise that I will be faithful to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and that I will uphold all laws and regulations to the best of my ability for the sake of the nation and the country," said Prabowo, dictating the oath of office, who is also the chairman of the National Steering Committee.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, who was appointed as the Daily Chairman of the National Energy Council (DEN), stated that this appointment marks a new chapter for the sustainability of future energy management. The government, together with the DEN, is building a roadmap to achieve the priority program targets in the energy sector, namely energy sovereignty, energy resilience, and energy self-sufficiency.
This is a form of the President's commitment, who has a special interest in uniting energy as a development priority. Because on various occasions at Astacita, the President always talks about energy resilience and food security.
Bahlil added that the inauguration of the new DEN members does not mean new work will be done, but rather a continuation of the development and formulation of various policies, including the National Electricity General Plan (RUKN), the utilization of New and Renewable Energy, and also encouraging the use of nuclear power.
"And this doesn't mean we're just starting to work; we've already been working on this by building several stages of the RUKN, the general energy plan, and even how to develop various policies, including the development of new and renewable energy, and also promoting the use of nuclear power," he added.
In accordance with President Prabowo's directives, there are four future energy development focuses. The first is energy sovereignty without intervention from other parties, followed by energy resilience, which will be increased to three months, then energy independence, and energy self-sufficiency.
