RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming has encouraged students to master digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and robotics, stressing that these skills are essential to compete in the era of global transformation.
He made the remarks during the talk show Arah Baru Pembangunan Nasional (New Direction of National Development) at Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW) in Salatiga. On that occasion, Gibran underlined the importance of introducing technology to students from an early age.
“AI, blockchain, robotics, digital economy, we need to familiarize young people with these fields as early as possible, including coding. We want them to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and computational skills,” VP Gibran said on Monday, January 26, 2026.
The Vice President emphasized that strengthening digital infrastructure is crucial to ensure Indonesia becomes not only a market but also a player in global digital transformation. “We must strengthen infrastructure; there should be no more blank spots for 4G or 5G,” he said.
He added that human resource development is equally important. “That is why we are actively discussing AI and blockchain. We have an extraordinary demographic bonus, which is an asset that must be utilized,” VP Gibran said.
VP Gibran also noted that digital technology has already been applied in various public services. “Now, for public services, we have OSS (Online Single Submission), e-Catalog, and soon Cortex,” he said.
“All of these systems use the latest technology to make things easier for the public. In fact, AI is already part of our daily lives, though we often do not realize it,” he added. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
