IPI and Neliti Sign MOU

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Librarians Association (IPI) and Neliti.com strengthened their joint commitment to improving literacy, innovation, and open access to knowledge by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The event took place at the National Library of Indonesia, Jakarta on Tuesday, 20 January 2026. It also included a national seminar on the theme "Building an Integrated and Sustainable Library Repository: The Role of Librarians in Open Access."

This collaboration is expected to bolster the role of both institutions in supporting various parties, such as universities, research institutions, regional libraries, schools, and non-profit organizations, to establish affordable, easily accessible, and sustainable digital repositories. This way, Indonesian knowledge and research results can be well-documented, integrated, and widely disseminated, supporting an open science ecosystem.

The Chairman of IPI, Dr. Joko Santoso, stated on Tuesday, 20 January 2026 that this collaboration between IPI and Neliti.com is a concrete step in addressing the challenges of knowledge digitization. Librarians are not only collection managers, but also information architects who build the foundation for open access for the public.

He also affirmed his hope that this program would have a significant impact on enhancing Indonesia's digital knowledge infrastructure and completed National Library digital network.

Meanwhile, Anton Lucanus, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Neliti stated that the goal of Neliti is to published 20 million articles from 250 thousand libraries in Indonesia, so people all over the world can read it online.
