South Sumatra Quarantine Accompanies Egg Farmers Go Export

RRI.CO.ID, South Sumatra - The South Sumatra Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency provided guidance for Go Export to egg farmers, as chicken eggs are one of the leading commodities in South Sumatra, on Monday, 19 January 2026. This assistance is provided in collaboration with the South Sumatra Food Security and Animal Husbandry Agency (DKPP).

The Head of the South Sumatra Quarantine Center, Sri Endah, stated during her visit that this assistance aims to ensure the readiness of South Sumatra's consumption chicken egg exports. "Besides this superior commodity of chicken eggs, South Sumatra has previously exported other superior commodities such as coconuts, coffee, and palm oil. We ensure that chicken eggs from South Sumatra can be exported and accepted by the destination country," Endah stated.

South Sumatra's leading commodity is consumption chicken eggs, with approximately 100 layer chicken farms recorded. The largest farm in South Sumatra is PT Banyuasin Mukut Inti (BMI), which can produce up to 17 tons of chicken eggs per day from 400,000 laying hens. Other large farms include PT Pulau Farm (PF) and PT Gunawan Farm (GF).

During her visit, Sri Endah, accompanied by Jafrizal, the Head of the South Sumatra Veterinary Authority (POV), directly inspected the production facilities and infrastructure, biosecurity implementation, layer chicken management, and environmental hygiene and sanitation at PT BMI, located in Mukut village, Pulau Rimau sub-district, Banyuasin district, South Sumatra. These aspects are important indicators in maintaining the quality and safety of the chicken eggs produced.

Food safety monitoring of chicken eggs for consumption in Mukut Village, Pulau Rimau District, is part of the efforts of the South Sumatra Quarantine Agency to support the Indonesian Quarantine Agency's Go Export Program and the export program for superior commodities in South Sumatra Province.
