Indonesia Strengthens Science Through “Brain and Music” Initiative

RRI.CO.ID, Bali - The Indonesian Government continuously reinforces its commitment to scientific advancement and cultural diplomacy as part of national development. The Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Professor Stella Christie, made the statement during the Music & Brain event themed “Imaging Imagination: Musical Creativity and the Brain” held at Kura Kura Bali on Sunday, 11 January 2026.
Speaking at the international public lecture, Professor Stella Christie highlighted President Prabowo Subianto’s strong support for the development of Indonesia’s scientific ecosystem. She said the government has increased funding for research as part of efforts to strengthen science and innovation in the country.
“I want to tell you with pride, ladies and gentlemen, especially to my fellow Indonesians, that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the funding for the scientific funding has increased by 218%,” Professor Stella Christie stated.
In addition to science, the Vice Minister also affirmed the role of culture, particularly music, in national leadership and diplomacy. According to her, music plays an important role in everyday life and serves as a unifying element for the nation.
“So music diplomacy and music in everyday life of our president is very important. Music brings unity to Indonesia,” she said.
The Music & Brain Public Lecture is an annual event that explores the relationship between music and brain science. The forum brings together government officials, scientists, academics, and participants from diverse backgrounds to discuss topics related to musical creativity and brain research.
