Government Introduces Roadmap to Strengthen Indonesia’s Digital Future

KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, has declared the Five-Year Indonesia Digital Direction or Indonesia Digital Roadmap as the guiding framework for its digital development, covering Connectivity, Growth, and Security.
At the Indonesia Digital Direction Declaration event in Jakarta on Wednesday (12/10/2025), Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid stated the Digital Direction aligns with the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045 and the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, which refers to the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).
Under this plan, Meutya Hafid affirmed the government’s commitment to expanding inclusive, high-quality, and affordable digital connectivity, targeting low-cost internet access for all citizens by 2026 in line with the connectivity pillar of the digital transformation.
“Yesterday we completed the auction for the 1.4-gigahertz frequency, which we are pushing for affordable internet, internet for the people,” Minister Meutya stated.
On the growth pillar, Meutya added that the government aims to strengthen the digital ecosystem to boost trade activity, foster digital talent, and deepen cross-sector collaboration. She noted that the national Artificial Intelligence (AI) ethics framework and AI Roadmap are nearly finalized and expected to be issued next year.
“The government has completed about 90 percent of the AI Roadmap and AI ethics. We hope the President will sign them early next year. They are already in the queue, and according to the Minister of State Secretariat, they are a priority for immediate approval,” she said.
Furthermore, on the secure pillar, Meutya highlighted the government’s efforts to build a digital space protected from cyber threats, data leaks, and vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure. The government also plans to implement safe digital space regulations fully by March 2026.
