KPI and RRI Strengthen Inclusive Broadcasting and Cinema

KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) along with Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) held the commemoration of the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the LPP RRI Auditorium in Jakarta, Monday (12/8/2025). The event also marked two years of the Film Radio program, which carries the theme “Inclusive Broadcasting and Cinema as a Public Creative Economy Product.”

Chairman of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Central, Ubaidillah, stated that information is a basic need for all citizens. He conveyed,“We must say that the right to information is a basic need for every Indonesian citizen. Without exception, we want information to be not only evenly distributed but also inclusive. It reached not only the eyes and ears of audiences in remote areas, but it is also enjoyed, understood, and comprehended by vulnerable groups and persons with disabilities.”

On the same occasion, the Director of Program and Production of LPP RRI, Mistam provided an explanation of RRI’s role in delivering information to the public. He highlighted open access for all members of society through RRI’s broadcasting services.

He said,“Providing solutions, offering inspiration, delivering education, and even recreation at Radio Republik Indonesia. Because at RRI, there is no discrimination; every citizen has the right to speak objectively and accurately, making RRI truly an educational medium.”

The event also brought together various stakeholders, including broadcasting regulators, public broadcasting institutions, disability communities, and creative industry players. Through this collaboration, inclusive broadcasting and cinema are expected to continue developing and expanding information access for all members of society.
