KBRN, Jakarta: The government is continuing to distribute logistics and other necessities to disaster areas on Sumatra Island. The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK), Pratikno, confirmed that a total of 500,000 tons of aid has been delivered from various parties.
He acknowledged that the distribution process was challenging. "Logistics access is constrained," he said at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
The aid packages include basic necessities (sembako), ready-to-eat meals, medicines, tents, and blankets. Various other forms of direct assistance are also being sent in stages.
Aid is also being sent to areas not directly affected by the disaster. However, the delivery faces obstacles due to disrupted logistics access.
Pratikno mentioned that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed all ministries and agencies to respond quickly in handling the emergency situation. According to him, the government's primary focus is currently on saving victims, distributing aid, and restoring essential facilities and services.
"National-level handling continues with maximum resource mobilization," he said, involving not just the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) but also the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police (Polri).
Pratikno added that disaster funding is also utilizing ready-to-use funds to ensure the acceleration of emergency response operations. Furthermore, the Minister warned that the government remains on alert for the potential of extreme weather.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), heavy to very heavy rain is predicted to last until the end of 2025. This rain has the potential to occur in Aceh, North Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Maluku, and Papua. (Diva Rifdah/Bambang MBKA)
