KBRN, Jakarta: Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Taufik Hidayat, attended the press conference for Road to OPPO X IOA Charity: Make Your Moment – From Badminton to All at Altitude Grill, The Plaza 46th Floor, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (June 25).

In his remarks, Taufik explained that the event is a collaboration between the Indonesia Olympians Association (IOA), OPPO Indonesia, and Inaspro, aiming to honor Indonesian Olympic champions while promoting social solidarity.

Carrying the theme “Make Your Moment: From Badminton to All,” the main event will be held on July 22, 2025, at Tennis Indoor Senayan. It will feature a historic fun match uniting Olympic gold medalists across generations since 1992.

“This is the first-ever event in badminton history where all Indonesian badminton legends will reunite on the same court—not for competition, but for solidarity, appreciation, and giving back,” Taufik said.

The event aims to reignite the spirit of badminton in younger generations while also showing respect to retired athletes who have contributed greatly to Indonesian sports.

Taufik emphasized that support for national athletes should not solely come from the government or sports associations, but also from private sector partners and brands through initiatives like this.

“These legends are no longer standing on the winner’s podium, but their fighting spirit continues to live on in our hearts and history,” he said.

Behind the glory of medals and applause lies sacrifice and lifelong dedication. Many retired athletes now live quietly, far from the spotlight. This charity event aims to remind the public that they remain a vital part of Indonesia’s sports legacy.

“This is not just about badminton; it’s a movement to ensure that no athlete is forgotten,” he added.

Eight Olympic gold medalists will take part in the event: Susy Susanti, Alan Budikusuma, Ricky Soebagja, Candra Wijaya, Liliyana Natsir, Tontowi Ahmad, Apriyani Rahayu, and Taufik Hidayat himself—gold medalist in men's singles badminton at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be channeled through IOA to support athletes across various sports disciplines. Additionally, an exclusive auction of the OPPO Find N5 smartphone signed by all eight legends will further contribute to athlete support efforts.

The press conference was also attended by IOA Chairwoman Yayuk Basuki, OPPO Indonesia Vice President Patrick Owen, and the badminton legends who will participate in the main event.
