KBRN, Jakarta: The Political and Security Affairs Coordinating Minister Budi Gunawan announced that the government has established an Integrated Task Force to combat organized crime, thuggery, and disruptive mass organizations (Ormas) activities that threaten public order and investment stability.

The Coordinating Minister made the announcement during a cross-ministerial coordination meeting involving Indonesian Military (TNI), National Police (POLRI), National Intelligence Agency (BIN), Home Affairs Ministry, Investment Ministry, and other key agencies.

"This is to strengthen security stability and legal certainty, ensuring a favorable environment for investment and business. As directed by President Prabowo Subianto, the state will not remain silent in the face of actions that threaten public order," he told the meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, rri.co.id reported.

He said the government will not hesitate to take firm action against all forms of thuggery and mass organizations that disrupt the community. He assured that the state's presence must be tangible for the community, particularly in providing security, ensuring freedom of activity, and maintaining a healthy and competitive business climate.

"The government has a constitutional responsibility to ensure that public space is not controlled by intimidation, violence, or coercion by certain groups," he said.

According to him, this step aligns with the national strategic agenda of creating a conducive environment for both domestic and foreign investment, as part of accelerating national economic growth.

Recognizing that security stability and legal certainty are essential, the government understands that a lack thereof will continue to erode investor confidence.

“The operation to handle thuggery and troubling mass organizations will be carried out synergistically by the TNI and POLRI with all relevant ministries/institutions,” he added.

The Coordinating Minister emphasized that the government is also opening a channel for public complaints, encouraging people's active participation in creating a safe, peaceful, and orderly environment. He urges the public to promptly report any suspicious activities by individuals or groups.

"The government will not tolerate mass organizations that act outside the limits of the law, impose their will with violence, or damage social order. The state will be present to protect its citizens and maintain the spirit of the law," he concluded.

This firm policy aims to establish a public space free from thuggery and the domination of violent groups, ensuring equal justice and security for all citizens. ***
