Indonesia Officially Joins New Development Bank: President Prabowo

KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has confirmed that Indonesia will join the New Development Bank (NDB), a multilateral development bank established by the BRICS countries in July 2014.
The President made this statement after meeting with NDB President Dilma Vana Rousseff at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
The President said the Indonesian finance team had met with the NDB team to conduct a cooperative exploration. "The Indonesian government has decided to join the New Development Bank," the President said in a written statement quoted by rri.co.id.
President Prabowo explained that the NDB will finance sustainable development projects and boost the developing countries' economies. According to President Prabowo, the NDB has an initial capital of USD 100 billion from its BRICS members.
The Head of State appreciated the NDB for actively inviting Indonesia to join. He said that Indonesia's participation will strengthen the country's economic transformation.
Meanwhile, NDB President Dilma Vana Rousseff welcomed Indonesia's decision to join the NDB. "Indonesia has an important role and is an alliance in BRICS," said Rousseff. ***
