KBRN, Jakarta: The Public Broadcasting Institution Radio Republik Indonesia (LPP RRI) is committed to massively educate the public on climate change issues, considering that the people's care for the environment must continue to be nurtured.
The statement was made by LPP RRI Competency Development Center Head Julian Saba, on behalf of LPP RRI President Director I Hendrasmo, during the 'One-Day Workshop with Journalists on National Radio: Indonesia's Role in Global Climate Action in Jakarta on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
“In order to educate, the understanding of our listeners, the action to protect the environment can be built in the community,” Julian told participants of the workshop, rri.co.id reported.
Julian said that this activity could provide inputs to every RRI broadcast program. “We can provide broadcasts on climate change, impacts of a climate change in Indonesia,” he said.
Julian also shared his experience when he felt a climate change in Pekanbaru, Riau, when he witnessed forest fires due to climate change.
“In Pekanbaru I could feel the impact of a climate change myself. There were forest fires. Smokes were everywhere," said Julian, expressing hope that journalists can inform issues on climate change, so that people's awareness can be maintained. ***
