KBRN, Tangerang: Residents of Alar Jiban Hamlet, Kohod Village, Pakuhaji Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, Banten, have shaved their heads en masse as an expression of gratitude following the arrest of their village head, Arsin bin Asip.

The thanksgiving expression was made after Arsin was detained for alleged falsification of land certificates in the area.

In addition to Arsin, the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department has also named the village secretary, Ujang Karta, as a suspect and two other individuals.

The two village officials and two other individuals who received power of attorney were detained as perpetrators of falsification of Building Use Rights Certificates and Ownership Rights Certificates for coastal land.

"Yes, essentially, we held a thanksgiving celebration, starting with a mass bald head shaving and a small selamatan (communal meal), along with prayers with the residents of Alar Jiban," said a resident on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, rri.co.id reported.

He said that around 50 residents of Alar Jiban participated in this action. They have long claimed to be victims of injustice, particularly land grabbing and coastal encroachment committed by local village officials.

"Since last night, after we received the news of the suspect designation and detention by the National Police, we immediately shaved our heads together with the residents," he said.

He also said that the bald-head-shaving action was a vow or promise from the local community. Therefore, they carried out voluntary actions to express gratitude.

"This was our promise, especially when the village chief Arsin and his secretary Ujang Karta were caught or detained by law enforcement officials. We, the residents of Alar Jiban, have vowed to shave our heads bald or plontos en masse from the beginning," said Oman.

On that occasion, they also expressed their highest appreciation to the National Police. The police have transparently uncovered the issue of the coastal land certificates without any concealment.

It was known that the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department officially detained four suspects in the alleged falsification of documents for issuing Building Use Rights Certificates and Ownership Rights Certificates for coastal land in Tangerang Regency.

Their files have been declared complete (P21) after an eight-hour examination. ***
