Indonesian Navy to Hold MNEK 2025 in Bali to Strengthen International Maritime Cooperation

KBRN, Denpasar: Bali will host an international naval exercise, the Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) 2025, which will take place on 15-22 February 2025. The MNEK is a non-war military exercise organized by the Indonesian Navy and involves friendly countries to strengthen maritime cooperation. This exercise will involve 58 countries with 34 foreign warships and 18 Republic of Indonesia Warships (KRI).

The Commander of the Denpasar-Bali Indonesian Navy Base (Danlanal), Navy Colonel Endra Kusuma, said in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday (5/2/2025), MNEK is a form of Indonesian maritime diplomacy in maintaining regional and global stability. He said MNEK 2025 will include various activities, including an international maritime security symposium, which invites representatives of navies from various countries to discuss political stability and maritime security at the regional and global levels.

The series of MNEK 2025 activities will begin with an opening ceremony at Benoa Harbor, Bali. Meanwhile, sea exercises will be carried out in the Badung Strait and the waters north of Bali in the Bali Sea.

"The Indonesian Navy has one of its tasks, diplomacy, supporting Indonesia's free and active foreign policy. We are not going to any block, and trying to embrace everything. So in this Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo activity, one of the purposes is to maintain regional stability," said Endra Kusuma.

The Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK) is held every two years between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. This exercise involves various activities, such as field maneuvers, experience exchange forums, bilateral meetings, defense exhibitions, and cultural activities.

The 5th MNEK is scheduled to take place in Bali on 15-22 February 2025. MNEK 2025 is an important event in strengthening maritime cooperation between countries, as well as demonstrating Indonesia's commitment to maintaining regional and global water security.
