Tama Yuri Turns Life’s Journeys Into Songs on “Biar Aku Dianggap Beruntung”

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian singer Tama Yuri introduces her album, “Biar Aku Dianggap Beruntung” (So, I'm Considered Lucky) as a reflection of her personal journey through life. The album tells stories shaped by migration, encounters, separations, happiness, heartbreak, and the struggles behind pursuing her dreams.

Born and raised in Serukam village, West Kalimantan, Tama later left home and experienced life across different places. Those journeys brought many personal meetings and farewells, shaping the experiences and emotions reflected throughout her eleven-song album.

Speaking on a recent episode of Voice of Indonesia's music program The Session, she revealed that the album’s title reflects her belief that experiences can still contain sweetness, like adding sugar to bitter chocolate. "I have had to struggle for everything, including pursuing my dreams and making music. But I want to tell people that struggles can also be faced while dancing, and that we can still add sweetness," she said.

Tama began pursuing music more seriously in 2023 after previously working professionally at several companies before the pandemic. She realized music was a dream she might regret leaving unfulfilled, prompting her move to Yogyakarta to study music.

The album was almost entirely created in Yogyakarta with friends and collaborators whom Tama credits for helping complete it. One of songs in the album is “Katanya Rela” (Supposed to Let Go).

It tells the story of learning to let go after a conversation about separation inspired her reflection. "In life, there are things that I have to learn to let go of, but somehow, I am not ready to let go. What if I have tried, but I still cannot move on? That is what the song “Katanya Rela” is about," she stated.

The song explores accepting separation, especially when someone still struggles to move forward after a relationship ends emotionally. Some of the songs are already available as lyric videos on Tama Yuri’s YouTube channel.
