RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Dusty Rusty, an Indonesian retro-pop music group from Bogor, West Java, has officially released its debut mini album, Platipus, alongside its latest single, " Jl. RE. Martadinata". The five-track extended play marks a significant milestone for the band, which was formed by four longtime friends reunited through their shared passion for music.

The group consists of vocalist and guitarist Robay, guitarist Ray, bassist Reza, and drummer Russell, who all first met during junior high school. Years later, they reconnected at an art exhibition in Bogor, where conversations about their favorite music eventually inspired them to form a band.

In a recent episode of The Session, The Dusty Rusty shared that its name was inspired by two rusty car characters from the animated film “Cars”. The members said the name reflects the band's retro-pop identity, which draws inspiration from the music of the 1950s.

Their debut EP, Platipus, features five tracks. The title was chosen because the platypus symbolizes uniqueness, aligning with the band's mission to introduce a distinctive retro-pop sound.

Among the new tracks, "Jl. RE. Martadinata" serves as the lead single, inspired by memorable experiences along the famous street in Bogor. Each band member interprets the song differently, hoping listeners will also connect it to their own personal stories and memories.

The band revealed that producing Platipus was a long-held ambition after facing creative and scheduling challenges throughout 2025. With support from local collaborators, the recording process was completed at 13 Nadi Musik in Bogor before its official release on 25 July.

The mini album is available on all digital streaming platforms. With Platipus, The Dusty Rusty presents a fresh take on retro-pop, combining nostalgic influences with stories drawn from everyday experiences.
