RRI.CO.ID, Bekasi - The Bekasi Regency Government is developing Sehati Park in East Cikarang as an integrated public space to support community activities and local economic growth. The development plan was reviewed by Acting Bekasi Regent Asep Surya Atmaja in Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Located in front of Wibawa Mukti Stadium, Taman Sehati will combine family recreation areas, culinary centers, green open spaces, and small business areas. The project aims to provide residents with a comfortable public space while creating new opportunities for local businesses.
Asep said Bekasi Regency needs a representative public space where residents can gather and enjoy recreational activities. He added that the area is designed to become a new destination without requiring residents to travel outside the region.
"We want to provide a comfortable public space. There will be culinary areas, children's playgrounds, places to relax, and entertainment facilities, so people can gather with their families without leaving the region," Asep said.
The development will divide Taman Sehati into several zones, including culinary areas, children's playgrounds, green open spaces, and entertainment facilities. The planning process involves regional government offices, academics, students, and youth organizations to ensure the concept meets community needs.
Asep emphasized that the project is not only aimed at improving the appearance of the area, but also creating economic opportunities for local communities. He said local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) would be supported as part of the public space development.
"We will not remove the community. Instead, we will facilitate SMEs so they can grow into a strong economic force for Bekasi Regency," Asep said.
The Bekasi Regency Government is also collecting input from community leaders, organizations, students, and residents regarding the development concept. Funding support will come from available regional budgets, as well as corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs from companies and financial institutions.
Through Taman Sehati development, the government hopes residents will gain a comfortable recreational space while supporting new economic activities. The area is also expected to contribute to regional revenue through increased community-based economic growth.
