  • The Ministry of Culture views JAFF Market 2026 as a strategic platform for strengthening Indonesia's film industry through collaboration and ecosystem development.
  • Minister Fadli Zon said JAFF Market serves as a key meeting point for filmmakers, producers, directors, screenwriters, investors, distributors, and other film industry stakeholders.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Culture emphasized that film markets like the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Market 2026 are a crucial foundation for sustaining the national film industry. Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, said the platform provides a strategic space to reinforce the cinema ecosystem through tangible collaboration.

As reported by Antara, the minister noted that JAFF Market has become an important meeting place for all film stakeholders, from creators, producers, directors, and screenwriters to investors.

JAFF Market 2026 returns as a collaborative forum for industry players to bolster the national film ecosystem by bringing together creators, investors, distributors, and other stakeholders.

JAFF Market Director, Linda Gozali, said audience numbers are not the only measure of the film industry’s development. She said JAFF Market exists to strengthen the ecosystem so more industry players can grow.

“Every year, regardless of economic conditions, we strive not to focus solely on figures,” Linda said at the JAFF Market 2026 press conference in Jakarta on Friday, 26 June 2026.

She added that the meaning behind audience figures should serve as a basis to expand collaboration and create greater opportunities for all industry participants. Linda said the Indonesian film industry showed a positive trend in the first half of 2026, reflected in a growing number of Indonesian films reaching more than one million viewers compared with the same period last year.

She said that optimism must be supported by expanding public access to Indonesian films and helping more works find their path to the domestic market. “This is where films must find their way to the largest and most potential domestic market,” she said.

For that reason, JAFF Market will continue to be developed as a space that connects filmmakers with investors, distributors, and strategic partners so collaborations can turn into concrete partnerships.

Linda added that JAFF Market aligns with efforts to make Jakarta a cinema city and to strengthen the theater-going experience as part of the film industry’s development. This year’s program features initiatives that open opportunities for industry players to build networks, secure funding, and expand distribution.

JAFF Market 2026 is scheduled for 28–30 November in Yogyakarta, with Amar Bank as the main partner. The event is expected to generate new collaborations that will strengthen Indonesia’s film industry going forward. ***
