RRI.CO.ID, Denpasar - The cobblestone paths of Denpasar’s historic heart were transformed into a vibrant runway on Sunday, June 7, 2026, as the third edition of Denpasar Fashion Street (DFS) took center stage. Moving beyond mere aesthetics, this year’s event centered on a dual mission: elevating the capital of Bali Province’s creative talent while spearheading a vigorous campaign for environmental sustainability within the garment industry.

Staged at the Pura Melanting Pedestrian area in the Badung Market heritage zone, the festival intentionally brought high fashion into a public space to democratize the industry. A standout feature of the 2026 edition was the introduction of dedicated educational hubs focused on eco-fashion, where visitors could engage with upcycled textile products and participate in clothes-swapping initiatives.

"Through DFS 2026, the Denpasar Municipal Government aims to realize a fashion movement that is not only visually beautiful but also has a positive impact on the environment and the circular economy," Denpasar City Secretary I Gusti Ngurah Eddy Mulya said during the event, as quoted by Antara.

Eddy explained that the choice of venue, a heritage site, was a deliberate move to revitalize the city's cultural landmarks as modern hubs for the creative economy. By utilizing the public pedestrian way, the government hopes to make high-quality local design accessible to the everyday citizen.

"The Denpasar City Administration wants to present DFS as a fashion event that is close to the people and can be directly enjoyed by the public.

Under the theme Senarai Renjana, which translates to A Sequence of Worn Passion, the event showcased the works of 12 local designers fostered by the Denpasar National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) and the Department of Industry and Trade. The roster included notable names such as Rhea Cempaka, Dewi Anyar, and Nethica Indonesia, alongside contributions from the Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Bali.

Sagung Antari Jaya Negara, the chairwoman of Dekranasda Denpasar, noted that the festival, held in conjunction with the Bung Karno Month commemorations, revolved around the core concept of Fashion for All.

"This year's DFS campaign promotes the fashion for all campaign, emphasizing that anyone can participate, as fashion should be accessible to everyone. DFS presents a creative space showcasing the work of Denpasar City designers, bringing them closer to the public," said Sagung Antari.

The event also saw significant collaboration with environmental communities. Groups such as Lorakaca showcased crafts made from fabric scraps, while Rekynd and Membumi provided workshops on textile waste management and upcycling techniques. ***
