KBRN, Berlin: In a strategic effort to strengthen Indonesia's tourism promotion in the European and global markets, Indonesia through the Ministry of Tourism again participated in the world's largest tourism exhibition, Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) Berlin 2025, on March 4-6, 2025 at the Berlin Expo Center, Messe Berlin, Germany.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana directly led the Wonderful Indonesia delegation, which this time collaborated with strategic collaborations from various pentahelix elements to strengthen Indonesia's position as a leading tourism destination in the eyes of the world. Widiyanti stated that at this year's ITB Berlin, the Ministry of Tourism focused on tourism that offers in-depth, personalized, and authentic experiences for tourists during their visit to Indonesia, such as gastronomy, marine, and wellness-based tourism.
“Travelers can engage in various activities of interest, as well as interact directly with local culture, communities, nature, and traditions in Indonesia,” Widiyanti added, as quoted from her official statement, Wednesday (4/3/2025).
With the spirit of advancing the tourism sector to a higher level, this year Indonesia presents the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion at the event. This year, there are 88 total collaborators who joined the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion with a composition of 4 Collaboration Partners. The Indonesian Tourism Promotion Alliance (APPI) with 14 co-exhibitors, Marriott Bonvoy with 11 co-exhibitors, BCA with 4 co-exhibitors, White Tiger DMC with 5 co-exhibitors, and 50 other co-exhibitors who joined independently at the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti explained that the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion at ITB 2025 featured the beauty of North Sumatra province as the main focus. As one of the 5 Tourism Super Priority Destinations, North Sumatra has attractive tourist attractions to be promoted internationally, as well as cultural affinity with European tourists.
“North Sumatra is a rich and beautiful province, with various tourist attractions such as Lake Toba which we are proud of, the culture of the Batak tribe, and the aesthetic value of Ulos Weaving which I believe has great appeal for tourists,” said Widiyanti.
Furthermore, the Minister of Tourism emphasized that Indonesia's participation in ITB Berlin is an important moment to collaborate and synergize to achieve the sales mission target of the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion.
Deputy of Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, explained that with the budget efficiency policy, the potential transaction target of ITB Berlin 2025 was set at 300,000 pax and a foreign exchange target of Rp8 trillion. Although this target is slightly reduced from the previous year which reached 330,000 pax, it is hoped that the gains obtained can still contribute significantly to achieving the target of foreign tourist arrivals in 2025, which is 14 million-16 million people.
“We carry out all these programs to promote and maintain Indonesian tourist destinations in the international world. Although there is no B to C event as in previous years, it is hoped that industry players who participate in this event can sell 5 DSP tour packages and special interest tour packages,” Made said.
