At U20 Plenary in New York, Pramono Invites Leaders of Cities to Invest in Jakarta

RRI.CO.ID, New York – Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung attended the U20 Mayoral Plenary at Civic Hall in New York, United States. On this occasion, Governor Pramono highlighted Jakarta's economic growth achievements in the second quarter of 2026 before leaders of cities from around the world.

The Urban 20 (U20) Mayoral Summit took place from September 19 to 21, 2026, in New York, United States. He affirmed that amidst various global economic challenges, Jakarta has managed to maintain strong economic growth.

"In a world facing various economic challenges, Jakarta continues to record strong economic growth. In the second quarter of this year, Jakarta's economy grew by 5.52 percent, with inflation remaining low at 2.5 percent. This stability has driven an influx of investment totaling US$10.5 billion into Jakarta in just six months," Pramono said, as quoted from the jakarta.go.id website on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

The former Cabinet Secretary also utilized the U20 forum to open investment opportunities and strengthen cooperation with city leaders and global partners.

"Jakarta is ready to open investment opportunities through 37 urban development projects with a potential investment value of US$7 billion. We invite city partners, the business community, and global partners not only to invest in Jakarta but also to build the future of our city together," the Governor said.

During the U20 Plenary, mayors and governors from cities worldwide listened to the opening remarks delivered by New York Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, the event's host.

In his address, Zohran expressed appreciation for the presence of city leaders at the U20 forum and outlined the three main themes of Urban 20 2026: affordable housing and homelessness; climate action, sustainability, and urban resilience; and the protection of immigrant communities and human mobility.

This forum is expected to produce an agreement document and joint policy recommendations from city leaders for sustainable urban development.
