Indonesia-Singapore Reinforces Air Navigation Collaboration

RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang – Air navigation authorities AirNav Indonesia and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) have officially strengthened air traffic services collaboration within the Jakarta and Singapore Flight Information Region (FIR) areas. This cross-border strategic cooperation focuses on leveraging real-time aircraft position-monitoring technology to guarantee higher standards of regional aviation safety.

Quoted from an AirNav Indonesia written press release on Monday, September 21, 2026, this bilateral collaboration is implemented through the exchange of Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B) data and operational communication support, effective since September 16, 2026. This cooperative scheme is designed to mutually integrate ground-monitoring systems to foster operational harmony in the airspace of both neighboring nations.

AirNav Indonesia Technical Director Zainal Arifin, Harahap explained that the agreement was signed directly with CAAS Deputy Director-General Ng Tee Chou to enhance accurate airspace traffic comprehension. Technically, AirNav Indonesia provides data feeds from monitoring stations in Natuna and Matak, while Singapore shares similar data to bolster joint surveillance capabilities.

"So, in principle, this collaboration benefits both parties," Zainal added regarding the effectiveness of this cross-border data exchange.

The agreed technical performance standards mandate an ADS-B system service availability rate exceeding 99.9 percent, backed by a redundant architecture to guarantee uninterrupted operational continuity. These strict standards ensure that every aircraft movement in the region's busy corridors is optimally monitored by both navigation control centers.

This reinforcement of navigation system interoperability simultaneously positions national flight safety and traffic efficiency as top priorities within the global aviation ecosystem. AirNav Indonesia considers the presence of modern infrastructure in strategic border regions to be a key pillar in forging reliable international air transportation connectivity.

This cooperation strengthens Indonesia's national air navigation service connectivity with Singapore. The exchange of surveillance data enables both parties to achieve better situational awareness of air traffic conditions and supports more effective air traffic service coordination.
