RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo — The Indonesia Futsal Community, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tokyo, held the Futsal Ambassador Cup 2026 at Futmesse Omiya in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, on Sunday, as part of the celebrations marking Indonesia’s 81st Independence Anniversary. The tournament was attended by 32 futsal teams made up of Indonesian citizens (WNI) residing in the Kanto region.
Counsellor for Information, Social and Cultural Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Iqbal Mohammad Amrullah, representing the Indonesian Ambassador, praised the tournament as an activity that could strengthen solidarity among Indonesians in Japan through sports, particularly futsal.
“This is a good opportunity not only for sports but also for Indonesians in Japan to gather, strengthen ties, and reconnect with one another,” Iqbal said in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday evening, September 16, 2026.
He said that as the number of Indonesian citizens in Japan continues to grow, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo is working to strengthen the Indonesian community through various cross-sectoral activities.
According to Iqbal, Indonesian community groups also serve as partners of the Indonesian Embassy in carrying out its functions of community development, services, and protection, including through continued communication with Japanese authorities.
He urged Indonesians in Japan to maintain Indonesia’s positive image by complying with local laws and social norms while living in Japan, as well as working with dedication and discipline.
Meanwhile, Coordinator of the Indonesia Futsal Club Japan, Abdul Hakim, expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo’s continued support for activities involving the Indonesian community in Japan.
“The Futsal Ambassador Cup 2026 is an opportunity for Indonesians in Japan to strengthen friendship and ties. It is also a chance for our fellow workers living around Kanto to relax and refresh,” Abdul said.
He expressed hope that the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo would continue supporting positive activities involving the Indonesian community, helping strengthen ties between Indonesian workers and the embassy.
