Palestinian Embassy Connects BAZNAS and UFGD for Humanitarian Partnership

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Jakarta staged a unique collaboration that links international solidarity with domestic development recently, as the Palestinian Embassy facilitated a meeting between Indonesia's National Zakat Agency (Baznas) and the United Foundation for Global Development (UFGD).
The session, held at the Baznas headquarters in Central Jakarta, was attended by Baznas Deputy Chairman Zainut Tauhid Sa’adi; Palestinian Ambassador Abdalfatah A.K. Al‑Sattari; UFGD representatives Abdallah Raed Shihda and Barhum Daoud Mahmud; and Baznas Director of Distribution Ahmad Fikri.
Zainut welcomed the Embassy’s initiative in connecting the two organizations, stressing Baznas' commitment to global humanitarian missions.
“Our programs for Palestine already cover food and nutrition, temporary housing, healthcare, and scholarships. With UFGD, we can expand this mission further,” he said, as quoted on Baznas' official website on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
UFGD outlined plans to support Indonesia directly, including building mosques inspired by Al‑Aqsa architecture in Jerusalem and drilling clean‑water wells in areas facing shortages, such as East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
“Mosques are important, but clean water is essential for survival,” a UFGD representative noted, adding that the organization has already built one Al‑Aqsa‑style mosque in Indonesia and intends to construct dozens more.
Ambassador Al‑Sattari emphasized the embassy’s ongoing role as a facilitator of humanitarian cooperation. “May this collaboration between Baznas and UFGD benefit both the people of Palestine and Indonesia. Free Palestine,” he concluded.
UFGD, a nonprofit entity active in multiple countries, focuses on community development through clean‑water projects, mosque and school construction, and food distribution. Its partnership with Baznas reflects a dual mission: strengthening aid for Palestinians while addressing infrastructure needs in Indonesia. ***
