RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and Thailand launched the Indonesia-Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030 as a new direction for strengthening bilateral relations in the fields of economy, investment, food security, energy, digital economy, and halal industry. Thru this roadmap, the two countries aim to achieve a bilateral trade value of US0 billion by 2030.

President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, announced this after the Second Leaders' Consultation with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, August 3 2026. The meeting also marked the first official visit of a Thai leader to Indonesia in the last 15 years.

"Economic cooperation remains the main pillar of our bilateral relations. We are optimistic that the trade target of US0 billion by 2030 can be achieved thru the implementation of the strategic partnership roadmap," Prabowo said.

The Indonesia–Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030 is a follow-up to the agreement reached by both leaders at the 2026 ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, and continues the Leaders' Consultation mechanism that has been in place since 2025. The document serves as a guideline for both countries in strengthening cooperation in various strategic sectors.

In the economic field, Indonesia and Thailand agreed to expand investments, enhance market access, strengthen partnerships among business actors, and establish a Joint Trade Commission, the first bilateral mechanism in the history of the two countries' relations tasked with identifying business opportunities and addressing trade barriers.

Cooperation is also being expanded in the field of food security thru the development of agricultural technology, logistics, food processing, and strengthening the supply chain. In addition, both countries encourage the establishment of the Indonesia–Thailand Energy Forum, expand digital economy collaboration thru the utilization of Local Currency Transaction (LCT), and enhance synergy in the development of the halal industry.

"We agree that Thailand and Indonesia have great potential to increase the volume of bilateral trade and investment," Thai Prime Minister stated.

According to him, this potential is supported by the large market of both countries, which encompasses around 350 million people, and can be optimized thru strengthening private sector partnerships.

The Indonesia–Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030 serves as a reference for both countries to expand economic and investment cooperation while strengthening partnerships in the food, energy, digital economy, and halal industry sectors until 2030.
